Join the Young People’s Chorus of New York City in a special performance for our annual spring celebration at the United Palace. In this special performance, 425 outstanding singers and a dynamic orchestra featuring a diverse and vibrant repertoire from around the globe is led by artistic director Francisco Núñez along with associate artistic director Elizabeth Núñez and conductors, Sophia Papoulis, Maria Peña, Sonny Willis and choreographer Jacquie Bird.  This world renowned ensemble will perform an evening of powerful music and dance that will inspire, ignite, and thrill your mind.

Young People’s Chorus of New York City (YPC) is a multicultural youth chorus internationally renowned for its superb virtuosity and brilliant showmanship. Founded in 1988 by Artistic Director Francisco J. Núñez, a MacArthur Fellow and Musical America’s 2018 Educator of the Year, YPC has created an awareness of the ability of young people to rise to unforeseen heights of artistry, which has inspired invitations for collaborations and performances from a global array of festivals, cultural institutions, and cities on four continents. YPC was the first American chorus to win first prize in the 54-year history of the European Broadcasting Union’s Let the Peoples Sing competition, the first youth chorus to open Lincoln Center’s venerable Mostly Mozart Festival, and most recently, the only North American chorus named "Choir of the World" in the 34-year history of the International Choral Kathaumixw Competition in Canada.  Each year over 2,000 NYC children benefit musically, academically, and socially through their participation in YPC's after-school and in-school programs. Hundreds more are now reached through YPC National programs in New Jersey, Minnesota, Georgia, Texas, and the Dominican Republic. Among YPC's many awards is America’s highest honor for youth programs, a National Arts and Humanities Youth Program Award.

This event is supported, in part, by the United Palace of Cultural Arts through public funds from the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs and City Council Members Mark Levine and Ydanis Rodriguez.
